We fix computer screens!
Damaged LCD Panel
If your LCD is “bleeding” or looks like an oil spill happened we can repair the computer by replacing the LCD panel.
Damaged LCD Panel
If your glass is broken on your laptop but display is fine then we can replace it. Many computers such as Macbook Pro’s from late 2008 to early 2012 have a layer of glass in front of the lcd that can just be changed. Also a lot of computers have a Digitizer or touch screen built into the glass that can be replaced if not bonded to the display.
Geometric Lines
If your computer has geometric, vertical or horizontal lines on the display you may have a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) motherboard failure. It can also be accompanied by the computer not booting or not being able to display on another monitor. This is a serious issue that may be eligible for repair or to extract data from. While these symptoms can be caused from physical damage to the screen usually it is the graphics chip.
Dark display / No Backlight
If your LCD is really dark and you can only see the image when a bright light source shines on it then you likely have a back light issue. Back-light issues can be caused by a few things. Self repair gone wrong – Plugging in the LCD LVDS Cable to a screen without powering off the device. Back LCD Panel where the actual led fails (rare). Water damage to the circuit board (common) or on older PC’s the Inverter that powers the CCFL light fails. We can determine and fix these issues if practical.
Blank Screen
If your computer powers on but has no display you could have several issues. You could have a bad memory chip or a bad gpu. You could have a disconnected LCD cable or a bad LCD. We can diagnose and get to the bottom.
Flickering Display
If your laptop screen “flickers” then we can diagnose and repair. Issue can often be a faulty lcd screen with a hairline / micro crack in it. However, it can also be a pinched or damaged LVDS cable. That is the cable the runs from your display to your motherboard. They can become slightly disconnected as well because from the factory they use packing tape to hold them in place.
Common Questions & Answers
What if I am not sure if my screen is the issue?
The easiest way to get to the bottom of this is for a free diagnostic at our shop.
What is the process?
First we examine the computer and do a free diagnostic to determine the issue. After that, we open the device and get the LCD panel number if possible while you wait or call you within an hour or so to get the exact price for your display panel. If you agree to the repair you can do one of two things. Either leave the device while the part is in route for the repair or leave a deposit and return when the part arrives.
How long does the repair take?
We try and complete these repairs within 2-4 days. However, we ask all clients to give us some slack because a lot of mail carriers have a nasty habit of damaging screens while they are in transit. Sometimes we get a display box that looks like it has been slam dunked by Hulk Hogan. Sometimes we get a defective part here and there too. In such a case we will update you and get another part ASAP. This is relatively uncommon but is out of our control.
My computer has a touch screen. Anything I should know?
If your computer has a touch screen there are a few things to keep in mind. This is for PC’s specifically since at this time Mac’s don’t have touch screens. We do our best to source original touch screens. However, there are millions of PC computers with different screens, vendors and qualities. Often when we see a computer with a broken touch screen it is the first encounter with the machine. A lot of suppliers don’t list if it is aftermarket or original. If this is the case then there are some things about quality and what to expect we will go over with you. Not all touch screens are the same.
What if the issue with my display is not caused by the screen itself?
A lot of display issues are actually caused by other things such as liquid damage, motherboard issue or graphics processor issues. In these cases we will assess the repair ability and get you some idea’s and we can go from there.
Can you give me a price over the phone to fix a screen?
For Apple computers we can if you call us with the serial number. For PC computers however the story is a bit different. PC’s use a number of different suppliers, makes and resolutions. Sometimes we can get you a general idea of cost. However we usually have people stop by so we can open the device and get the exact part number. Then we get you a price. No diagnostic fee and we understand if you may not want to get anything repaired.
