Our Method
When we receive an iPhone we immediately begin our process. We begin by a COMPLETE dis assembly of the device. We then use a proprietary chemical solution to clean contacts and remove water damage related problems. We also replace the Power Amplifier IC chips on the logic board if the device does not power after cleaning. We always replace the battery. There are many other things we do as well to ensure success.
WARNINGS & MYTHS!!!
Often people try to fix or repair a water damaged phone after it gets wet. Usually the phone is repaired by one of our techs but often people make the phone WORSE by attempting things they have seen online. Here is a list of things not to do and common pitfalls that LESSEN your chances of a successful repair service!
1. NEVER USE A HAIR DRYER! - Adding heat is VERY BAD! It causes a lot of damage and will only further ruin your iPhone!
2. DO NOT USE RICE! – Ah yes the age old Rice Myth! Yes rice can really absorb water! However as you know when you cook rice you wash it to remove the STARCH. The starch gets inside the iPhone and is CONDUCTIVE. Basically when the phone sits in the rice the starch attaches to the logic board and bridges connections. When you turn on the phone there is a high chance of destroying the logic board.
3. DO NOT TRY AND CHARGE THE PHONE! – Disconnect your phone from the charger. Do not try and turn the phone on! Just because the phone is on and (partially working) you NEED to turn it off or you risk destroying it for good!
TIPS & ADVICE – Turn off the phone if it’s on. Put the phone in a zip lock bag if it fell in dirty liquid. Bring the phone to our shop IMMEDIATELY! The longer you wait the more the copper contacts corrode.
